If you don’t have any health or physical limitations, the “Talk Test” is the easiest way to figure out the intensity you need to burn fat. When you’re active, you should be able to hold a conversation. If you’re slightly struggling to speak, then you are in the fat burning zone. If you aren’t comfortable at that intensity, it’s okay because you’re still burning Calories, and you’ll probably work out longer and burn more Calories that way. If you work out at a pace where you can’t talk at all, then you are no longer burning fat Calories, you’re building up lactic acid and most likely can’t keep that pace for a long period of time.
WHY AND HOW IT WORKS

COTTAGE GROVE REC DEPARTMENT WALKING CLUB
Come join me for a walk Saturday, November 6, at 1:00 at Woodridge Park. We start walking around Woodridge Park pond, stop for 5 minutes of stretching, and walkers up for more of a challenge can walk up 90th Street and in to the Cottage Grove Ravine Park and back. Those not ready for that much of a challenge can take an additional loop around the pond. The goal is to have walkers with different energy levels have an opportunity to get outdoors, be active and meet other people with similar interests. (Walks will be scheduled rain or shine unless there are storm warnings, threats of lightning, etc. If in doubt, call me at 651-470-8060 to check on the status of the walk. Note: Liability forms must be signed before participating and will be available before the walk.)
Be at an intensity that keeps the activity enjoyable so you don’t get frustrated and quit!
